Are you worried about the high costs involved in acquiring a college education?
Golden West Publications, LLC is pleased to award a $500.00
scholarship to a graduating senior with each issue we publish.
IN ORDER TO QUALIFY:
1. You must be a senior or will be a senior in the fall.
2. You must have a grade point average of 2.5 or greater.
3. You plan to attend college/technical school after graduation.
All you need to do is write an essay (600-1000 words) about a personal encounter
you or someone you know has had with drug and/or alcohol abuse, how it was
dealt with, and, in your opinion,what was right or wrong about the way the
incident or problem was handled. Criteria for the winning essay are the same
as an essay written for a high school
English class, ie: thought content, thesis statement, supporting argument,
grammar, punctuation, etc.There is no deadline, essays must
be submitted for consideration BEFORE graduation from senior
year.We publish 2 - 3 editions in each state during each high school year;
essays submitted are considered for each edition published within that year.
Please note, scholarships are offered ONLY in Colorado, Idaho,
Montana, North & South Dakota,Washington & Wyoming.
All essays submitted are the sole property of the ALERT MAGAZINE,
LLC and are subject to editing.
The best essay submitted wins the
scholarship and the writer will have his or her essay (along with photo) published
in ALERT Magazine. You cannot remain anonymous and enter the essay contest;
however, if you would like to submit something to be published, we welcome
personal stories!
